Sexual health is important no matter how old you are. Being sexually active has been proven to improve quality of life. There’s no reason to guess why people of all ages want to be sexually active. Starting in 1996 scientists started to research men 75-95 years old and their sexual activities. The study concluded that “One half of elderly men consider sex important, and one third report being sexually active. Men’s health problems were associated with lack of sexual activity. Key modifiable risk factors include diabetes, depression, and medication use.”
The author of The 100 Year Lifestyle, Eric Plasker, wrote in his book about the importance of being sexually active. He expressed that, “regular intercourse can cut the chance of a heart attack or stroke by up to half, increase antibodies that boost the immune system, improve bladder control and regulate intestinal contractions, release minerals that prevent tooth decay, sharpen the sense of smell and reduce the risk of prostate cancer. Staying sexually active can increase both the length and quality of life. Sex relieves stress, keeps you feeling young, boosts your immunity, provides enjoyable exercise, improves your mood and brings you closer in your intimate relationships.”
